GENERAL DESCRIPTION
HOLLY IS A DEVICE WHICH HAS BEEN SPECIALLY DESIGNED FOR DETECTING MICRO-PERFORATIONS
IN IONIC EXCHANCE MEMBRANES. A TYPICAL DEFECT OF THESE MEMBRANES IS MICRO-PERFORATION
DUE TO THEIR MOVEMENT WITHIN THE ELECTROLYZERS. THE IDENTIFICATION OF
THE MICRO-PERFORATIONS TAKES PLACE VIA AN AUTOMATIC CYCLE WHICH NARROWS
THE LOCATION OF THE MICRO-PERFORATION TO A RESTRICTED AREA AND USE A PROBE
TO DEFINE ITS EXACT POSITION. HOLLY IS EQUIPPED WITH A DEPRESSED POROUS
SURFACE WHICH RECEIVES THE MEMBRANE AND A FRAME WHICH IS ACTIVED BY FOUR
PNEUMATIC CYLINDERS. INSIDE THE FRAME A SENSOR IS ACTIVATED BY TIMING
BELTS, AND IS LOWERED ONTO THE MEMBRANE THANKS TO TWO PNEUMATIC CLINDERS,
GUARANTEEING CONSTANT SPECIFIC PRESSURE. THE SYSTEM IS EQUIPPED WITH A
THERMO-VENTILATION CYCLE WHICH DIMINISHES THE CHECKING TIME. THE MICRO-PERFORATIONS
ARE IDENTIFIED BY MEANS OF ACOUSTIC AND/OR LUMINOUS SIGNALS LOCATED INSIDE
THE AUTOMATIC SENSOR. A MANUAL SENSOR MAKED A PRECISE INDIVIDUATION OF
THE MICRO-PERFORATION WHICH IS MARKED BEFORE BEING REPAIRED USING A WELNY
WELDING DEVICE. THE MOVEMENT OF EACH INDIVIDUAL BOARD IS MANAGED FROM
A SINGLE CONTROL PANEL LOCATED ON THE SIDE OF THE DEVICE.

MEMBRANE TREATMENT
BEFORE CHECKING
THE MEMBRANE MUST BE COMPLETELY WET BEFORE IT IS LOWERED
ONTO THE POROUS SURFACE, SO AS TO GUARANTEE THE CORRECT WORKING DIMENSIONS.
THE MEMBRANE MUST BE CLEARED OF ANY FOREIGN BODIES BEFORE BEING LOWERED
ONTO THE POROUS SURFACE. HAVING LOWERED THE MEMBRANE ONTO THE POROUS SURFACE
AND SEALED THE FRAME, DRY IT WITH A SPONGE OR PAPER TO REMOVE THE FILM
OF WATER, THUS CREATING THE BEST WORKING CONDITIONS.
